I had a Baptist pastor friend of mine tell me once that the Gospel (the “good news of salvation in Christ”) was so simple that a 6th grader could understand it. Another pastor friend of mine, a nationally known Presbyterian minister, once said to me that he feared that we Presbyterians tended to “over-intellectualize” the Gospel message. The question boils down to “Who do you trust (have faith in)? Yourself? Other people? Or God?” Our proof resides in God’s word in the Bible. John 3:36, 1 John 5:13, John 3:16, Galatians 5:22. “Love God with all of your heart, your soul, your mind… love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:36-38)

Seems to me, the faith question is not an either or type of question. We operate on faith or fear in all three, trusting in yourself, others, or God and many other input sources to include the media, and other government entities such as politicians, and government agencies such as the CDC. The question I suggest we should be asking ourselves in all relationships, is do my actions reflect faith in God’s word, or or our actions based on fear?
