When my cute little angelic cherub children morphed into seemingly demon possessed teenagers with chips on their shoulders, I was inspired to frame and post the following quote in their bathroom where they could see it at least twice a day. It seemed to have at least a marginal positive impact on their demeanors, and probably benefited my personal outlook during challenging times even more so…
“Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.”
– Rev. Chuck Swindoll
In a similar vein, as a self-employed entrepreneur (in between Navy instructor careers), I found encouragement in this quote from Zig Ziglar. It also has a nice aviation “flare” to it (think short final on landing).
“It is your attitude, more than your aptitude, that will determine your altitude!”
Keep your eye on the prize, and your mind on those things of eternal value – your treasures in heaven. (Philippians 3:14, Matthew 6:19-21 and 22:36-38)
