“What is truth?”

He had truth in the flesh standing before him and yet he was blind to it. Pontius Pilate. In tumultuous times, then as now, we search for truth amidst all the noise of uncertainty, misinformation and lies. Fortunately, absolute truth does exist. “I am the way, the truth and the life…” (Jesus in John 14:6). There are worldly “truths” that seem to be right to us which ultimately lead to our destruction (Proverbs 14:12). God’s word, however, contains his truth to guide and encourage us, so that we need not be afraid, but so that we can have a fulfilled and joyful life. (John 17:17, John 14:27, Isaiah 41:10). In this season of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for real truth.

  1. “I am the way, the truth and the life…” Notice this scripture states “the truth”, not “a truth”, rather “the truth”. Looking for truth apart from Christ, is hazardous to ones health and well being! Nazi death camps, typically featured gates that stated “Work Sets You Free”, not the truth! As they say, consider the source, when looking for truth. The Nazis didn’t corner the market on lies.
