Change can be good, and change can be bad. Stress and anxiety increase during times of transition, whether the change is for better or worse. A new year, a new political administration, health status changes, spring time is around the corner, new plans, new goals and resolutions. Tax season, plans for the future, financial worries. Change naturally produces anxiety about the unknown. The Bible reassures us that while change is part of life and inevitable (Ecclesiastes 3:1-22), our God is constant in His goodness and mercy. “For I the Lord do not change…” (Malachi 3:6). “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8) God hasn’t moved and he encourages us to place our fears and anxieties upon Him. “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” (James 4:8). I don’t know about you, but I find that very encouraging.
