As Christians we are called to a spirit of love, not fear. Let’s be honest, there is much to be fearful of these days… if we allow ourselves to slip into that dark and seemingly hopeless abyss. But the hopeful, the joyful news is that the Holy Spirit (the person, the third person of the trinity) which indwells us as Christians is a spirit of love and hope, not fear. 1 John Chapter 4 speaks of discernment during confusing and scary times and of the importance of love being our focus, not fear. It is worth your time to be uplifted and reminded of God’s love for you by re-reading 1 John chapter 4. “God is love.” “There is no fear in love; but perfect love [the love of God and Christ] casts out fear…”. As His disciples, believers, we are promised that He, God himself, is with us, within us, even unto the end of time. (Matthew 28:20)
