Gratitude

Does God need our thanks?  No, but He greatly desires it.  Try doing a word search for gratitude or thanks in the Bible and see what you come up with.  There is a fascinating account in Luke 17:11-19 where Jesus has healed 10 lepers of that most horrible of diseases.  And yet, only one of the ten returns to thank Jesus.  And Jesus makes a comment on it!  When we thank others for acts of service, for favors, for anything… we are thinking outside of ourselves.  And our Lord desires that greatly.  Christ desires that we love God and love others.  Verbal gratitude, heartfelt thanks, lifts others and demonstrates our love for them.  It gets us out of our self-absorbed mindset… And it draws us closer to God.  Search for “gratitude” (“What does the Bible say about gratitude?”) in a good Bible topical word search.  You’ll be blessed.  And thankful.

  1. Great reminder to give thanks daily; not just on Thanksgiving!

Words are very powerful and lift up one’s spirit. Words are one of the ways we show love to one another.
